Who Do I Think I Am? Unlocking the Inner Stories
Roxanne Howe-Murphy, Ed.D
What keeps individuals from being able to realize or even to identify, personal priorities and dreams that are in alignment with their Essential nature? Habitual inner stories that are played out in one?s life give a substantial clue to this question. These stories which are often hidden to our awareness overload internal systems with counter-productive information and lead to repetitive patterns in our lives. Our inner stories keep us identified with a limited definition of who we are. An introduction to the principles of Deep Coaching as an orientation to activating healthy human development and transformation serves as the foundation for this session. The Inner Story Process will be introduced as a discovery tool that helps bring what is unconscious into consciousness. Through exploring the interwoven cycle of layered and recurring mental, emotional, physiological and behavioral reactions to triggering situations and the experiential impact of such reactions, the individual is able to pinpoint cues, gain perspective, change course and often embrace aspects of an Expanded self. The learning process will include discovering how the uninterrupted storyline works, illuminating specific inner stories, interrupting the story cycle, and creating new experiences. Attendees will have the opportunity to practice the Inner Story Process and identify alternative and liberating strategies. A shorter version of this program was presented at the 2007 IEA conference. This work is part of Roxanne?s teaching in the Deep Coaching Program.
